It goes on like this, all the time. Constant "jokes" about how gay men clearly want to be women and gay women clearly want to be men, about how there's no way that a gay guy can have any sort of manly pride about having his penis insulted, because clearly a gay man doesn't want a penis, and when one responds with any sort of comment on how one doesn't find that funny, and maybe, just maybe he should try to know what the hell he's talking about, he says he's not interested in knowing what anyone else in the world but himself thinks or is interested in/offended by, but he sure doesn't have a problem shooting his mouth off about them, and gawd, don't take things so seriously, it was a joke... -_- Am I overreacting in wanting to scream 'ignorant fucktard'?
I really try to be respectful of his opinions; I don't mention anything about my fandoms because I'm more concerned with the male characters and he doesn't want to hear it, don't show him cool art that I find because of the content, talk about his stuff... =/ Am I being too demanding by asking he do the same for me?
He does it about women, too. Makes you feel utterly worthless for being female, but at the same time, you know he's completely uninformed and pulls the whore comments and theories about gold-digging and what women really want out of his ass, so you feel idiotic for taking any of it to heart... I once said I couldn't get into WoW, and he told me I'd been girlified, so now all I could do is gossip and "make males a sammich." But it's just a joke, so I shouldn't be at all offended.
...I was so excited about the quote, too, because in Lit class we always talk about stuff like that. We bring Freud and Jungian archetypes and the meaning life and all sorts of shit into it, and have long, meandering discussions on everything. Human nature comes up a lot, given the stuff we're studying. (Beowulf through to Shakespeare, all significant works in between)
LJ, I'm so sorry for only ever posting rants these days. =/ I swear I'll post art or something amusing or something some day. Maybe even fic, if I finish it. =D
Actually, have a sketch:
